It all started with an idea...

A short, interactive guide helped them discover their design style and clearly captured what they needed.

Needs

The prog rock formation from Ghent named "MakiMura" is looking for a logo and fitting corporate identity. MakiMura is a band which tries to merge different genres like metal, progressive metal, shoegaze and folk.

In this contest, it's your task to develop a logo and corporate identity which keeps these things into account:

- Try to go for modern an streamlined.
- Try to incorporate the dubble capital M's of MakiMura. Be careful that it doesn't start to look like a Metallica rip off.
- Don't try to create a typical metal logo.
- Try to go for a word-based logo. If you do want to incorporate images, then integrate the word MakiMura into the picture.
- Try to make a logo which looks good, both in black and white as in colour.
- Don't make it a cliché. If you want to get inspired by other band's logos, try to look at 70's bands and not at for example 80's bands.
- Try not to make a glam rock-ish logo, nor do we want an Iron maiden-ish logo and CID.
- Black Metal and any other unreadable typefaces are completely of the grid as well.

Within this competition, we'll also be adding a link to a moodboard, which we've created to check which colours we think would fit the vibe of the band. If you do want to make use of colour, you can use this moodboard for inspiration.

Hi Alvero!

The consensus so far is that we love the double M logo which you made. The typeface still doesn’t really convince us. Could you make something that’s a bit thinner? More like this:

OR, in de font, just leave the M's as they are and restore the rest of the letters.Only the M's should be special, the rest of the letters don't need those sharp edges. Try both maybe?

Thank you for posting this one.

We have been waiting for some logos to come into our mailbox and this one has been our favorite so far. We love the double 'M' thing you've done.

Is there any way that you can up the typeface of the word 'MakiMura' which you've designed? We'd love to see a more flashy version of this.
