It all started with an idea...

A short, interactive guide helped them discover their design style and clearly captured what they needed.

Needs

I am looking for a trendy logo for my website "Blackbird 's Jungle Book".

This will be a website where I write columns about (my) life in New York City. Basically, it is an online diary.

The name of the website refers to this:
- Blackbird = Merel (which is my name translated in Dutch)
- Jungle = New York City (in reference to the song Empire State of Mind where New York is referred to as "concrete jungle where dreams are made of")
- Book = collection of stories (my columns)

In other words, Blackbird's Jungle Book: stories about my life in New York City (jungle book can also be seen as a kind of survival guide in this context: how to survive the jungle that is called New York City)

Elements that should be reflected in the logo are:
- Blackbird (or at least a black bird, preferably elegant)
- New York City (recognizable elements, such as the New York skyline, skyscrapers, the Statue of Liberty, etc)
- (Pages from) a book

Somewhere in the logo, the text "Blackbird 's Jungle Book" should be displayed.

I like "clean", simple but elegant logos. There is no need to make it two dimensional. Black and white will do.

I tried to make the adjustments you suggested and came up with this 2 versions, one with completely smooth edges and another with more rounded feathers.

Love it! Thanks a lot! The smooth edges are my favorite! It almost looks like a half moon. Could you turn the black/white version into that? Also, given that I will use the logo only on my website, could you upload a 'straight' version (not as if it were printed on material, but just 2 dimensional and looking straight at it).

Hi Merel,

I present you 3 variations of a logo that matches your requests. I chose this samples so you can see how it would look if you were to print it on different types of paper or materials, in various techniques.
The book is stylized, framing the blackbird. I incorporated New York City in the bird in order to hint towards a strong relation between the two of them. Also, I went with black and a darker red because they are elegant colors and easy to see and recognize.

Hi Loridiana,

Thank you for your creations. I like them a lot! Especially the ones where the skyline is incorporated in the bird. I like the flying bird the best. I do have a question about that however. Is it possible to adjust the wings of the birds slightly (could you change the five feathers in the end to one smooth end)? Right now, the bird kinda looks like a hawk. Could you make it more 'blackbird-ish'? That would be great! Another question I have is about the color of the letters. Could you make them all black?
